Istanbul, Turkey – A plane travelling from Shanghai to Istanbul, narrowly missed disaster as the tires destroyed segments of the lower part of the planes body.

According to initial reports, the tires of the cargo plane travelling from Shanghai’s Pudong Airport to the Isanbul International Airport destroyed the lower part of the planes body causing holes 1 meter across.

The damage on the Boeing 747-400 ERF model plane owned by Chinese Cargo company “Jade Cargo” was noticed by groundsman at the Istanbul Airport after travelling almost 5000 Miles (8000 Kilometers) from Shanghai.

According to experts who have assessed the damage on the Boeing 747, the damage caused by the tires of the plane could have easily damaged the fuel tank which would have caused an explosion.

Technical staff at the Istanbul Airport will decide whether the plane is repairable for further flights.

Meanwhile the lane in which the Chinese Cargo plane landed was closed for a short period of time for crews to look for any debris which might have fell from the damaged areas.

Just last month a Russian made cargo plane crashed in a rice field in the Philippines killing three people after an electrical problem caused a fire.
