Prince William broke royal etiquette at final

Prince William congratulated the English players after their EM victory.

The royal allowed himself to be carried away by breaking a taboo.

On Sunday, the English and German national teams faced each other in the European Championship soccer final. After an exciting game, the English won 2-1 in extra time.

The British royal family was represented on site by Prince William. The son of the heir to the throne, Prince Charles, was in the audience and welcomed the winners on the pitch after the final whistle.

The cameras captured special scenes: The 40-year-old was unusually sociable at the award ceremony. Not only did he grab the hands of the players with a big smile and was obviously happy about winning the European Championship, but he also gave a few of them a warm hug.

In doing so, the Queen’s grandson actually violated royal regulations. According to etiquette, royals are not hugged. But obviously the family man allowed himself to make an exception for this glorious moment.

The Queen also congratulates

While congratulating William on site, the Queen addressed the national team via Instagram. Her account reads: “My heartiest congratulations and those of my family to you all on winning the European Women’s Football Championship. It is a great achievement for the whole team, including the coaches. The European Championship and your performance were deservedly praised .”

The British Queen also emphasized the overriding importance of this triumph. “You are a good role model who will be an inspiration to girls and women today and for generations to come. I hope you will be as proud of the impact you have had on your sport as you are of today’s result.”
