Once again there have been several deaths in Israeli military operations. According to Palestinian information, a total of six people were killed in Jenin and Jericho in the West Bank and at the Gaza border fence.

According to Palestinian information, six Palestinians were killed in Israeli military operations in the occupied West Bank and unrest in the Gaza Strip.

This number was given by health care representatives. On Tuesday evening there were still reports of four deaths, but the Palestinian Ministry of Health updated the number.

Operations in different locations

Four people were killed and around 30 others injured during an operation by the Israeli military in the Jenin refugee camp on Tuesday. Jenin is considered a stronghold of militant Palestinians.

Also on Tuesday, a Palestinian was shot dead in new unrest at the border fence between the Gaza Strip and Israel.

Confrontation upon arrest

On Wednesday, a 19-year-old Palestinian was killed in an Israeli military operation in Jericho in the southern West Bank. The Palestinian Ministry of Health said he suffered a gunshot wound to the head. According to Palestinian media reports, the military surrounded a house in the Jericho refugee camp early in the morning and arrested two men. There were confrontations.

Regarding the military operation in Jenin, the Israeli military said a drone was used and there were exchanges of fire with Palestinian militants. An explosive device exploded under an army vehicle while leaving the refugee camp, but no soldiers were injured.

In Jericho, soldiers were pelted with explosives during the operation. They then shot one of the suspects, the army said.

Violence is increasing

The security situation in Israel and the West Bank has long been tense. Since the beginning of the year, 27 Israelis, one Ukrainian and one Italian have been killed in attacks. During the same period, more than 190 Palestinians died in Israeli military operations, confrontations or after their own attacks.

Israel conquered the West Bank and East Jerusalem in 1967. The Palestinians claim the areas for an independent state of Palestine with the Arab-dominated eastern part of Jerusalem as its capital. Around three million Palestinians and around 490,000 Israelis live in the area in settlements that the UN classifies as violating international law.
