Thor 4: Who is Gorr the godslayer, the character played by Christian Bale?
Gorr the Godslayer made his first appearance in the second trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, played by Christian Bale.
The actor accustomed to incredible physical transformations is dressed in white with livid skin, so he officially enters the MCU.
Christian Bale more terrifying than ever!
It was Christian Bale who inherited the role of the antagonist in the new Thor Love and Thunder. The actor already owes his notoriety to his interpretation of Batman in Nolan’s trilogy, to his role in The Machinist or even American Psycho. If he is already accustomed to complex roles and villains, we do not know what place the character of Christian Bale will hold in the new Thor. Nevertheless, Taika Waititi, the director, intends to make it a worthy heir to the titan Thanos. Since the beginning of this new Marvel phase, no enemy has been able to match it. The character contrasts with the very colorful visuals of this film completely assumed 80s with its dark look. Certain passages of the trailer are even completely in black and white, which accentuates the discrepancy. Some will have noticed that Gorr’s design remains very human compared to his comic book version to highlight Christian Bale.

If the place of Gorr the Massacre is still rather vague in the MCU, he is a character well known to comic book readers who appeared for the first time in Avengers Universe n°2 in 2013 or Thor: God of Thunder #2 in VO. Gorr and his people have always worshiped the gods without ever seeing them. After the violent death of his mother, his wife and his children, he decides to take revenge on the gods who are never there when an innocent needs them. In the trailer, we see a sword, named in the comics the Necroblade, which gives him a large part of his powers and an excessive life expectancy. This blade comes from Knull, a symbiote just like Venom. This strength surely allowed him to defeat Falligar, a god whose carcass we see in the trailer. This character is also very related to Galactus, the devourer of worlds, one of the most terrifying and strong characters in the Marvel universe, even surpassing Thanos.
What do we know about Thor: Love and Thunder?
Christian Bale is not the only one to have been announced in the casting of Love and Thunder since we will also find Chris Hemsworth in the main role and Natalie Portman back in the role of Jane Foster. They will be accompanied by the Guardians of the Galaxy and Russel Crowe will play Zeus. The synopsis focuses on the initiatory journey of Thor who tries to regain control and to be worthy of Mjollnir. But he crosses paths with his ex, Jane Foster, who surprisingly is also able to wield the hammer. Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in theaters on July 13.
