Vietnam is an important market for Singaporean tourism, said John Gregory Conceicao, CEO of the Island Country Tourism Board (STB) in Southeast Asia, at an event to revive the country’s smokeless industry.

At the event, held the day before, the STB updated the regulations on entering Singapore and presented the destinations of interest to Vietnamese tourists, the Nhan Dan electronic newspaper reported.

Specifically, the “Vaccine Travel Framework” (VTF) program will replace the “Vaccine Travel Channel” (VLT) with simplified procedures.

Under the tourism model, visitors arriving in Singapore do not need to be tested for COVID-19.

Vaccinated persons and children under 12 years of age entering the country only need to present a negative Covid-19 test certificate made within two days before departure.

Conceicao pointed out that this is the right time for the “island merlion” to accelerate the recovery of the leisure industry.

He stressed that through the VLT agreement signed by the two countries in mid-March last, the Vietnamese will be able to experience new services after the pandemic.

He expressed his conviction that 2022 will be a year of hope, especially for the tourism sector.
