Guus Hiddink to Chelsea, Turkey want Compensation

Chelsea set to make the expected formal approach for Turkey manager Guus Hiddink and Turkey resigned to losing Guus Hiddink to Chelsea.

Chelsea target Guus Hiddink, a close friend of Roman Abramovich, for their vacant manager seat, but negotiations with the Turkish Football Federation could be tricky as the Dutchman has 12 months left on current deal of 4 Mil. annually. That will spark a period of negotiations over the size of the compensation package as some Turkish sources believe Chelsea offer is too good to turn down.

Hiddink oversaw last Friday’s 1-1 draw in Belgium in a Euro 2012 qualifier, a result that kept Turkey in contention for a play-off place in Group A, and has left for his holidays having entered the final 12 months of a £4m-a-year deal. His after-match comments stirred some confusion on his future with Turkey.

Hiddink could cost for Chelsea up to £15m

The sacked manager Carlo Ancelotti’s compensation of £6m plus Hiddink’s compensation over £4m and his annual salary of nearly £5m makes Guus Hiddink one of the top paid managers in England,  if not in the world. Guus Hiddink has a remaining 12 month conract with Turkish Football Federation, however the president of turkish football,Mahmut Ozgener, has departed for a week-long holiday and that nothing can move forward in his absence. Additionaly in the upcoming elections at the end of June could mark the departure of president Mahmut Ozgener which would end any chance of Hiddink remaining in charge of the country.
