Argentinean striker Diego Milito, scored twice to put the Italian’s ahead and win the Champions League Final, but it was not easy feet with the German’s creating pressure on the Italian side throughout the game.

The win puts Mourinho in the history books once again as the third manager ever to win the Champions League with two different teams, a feat which Van Gaal would have achieved if Bayern had won.

After the game, Dutch Manager Van Gaal said “We were not good enough to impose our game, Inter only reacted, but they still won deservedly.”

“The timing of the goals was decisive. The players learned today that it comes down to small details.”

Gaal continued “I still have the feeling that we could have won. There were no great difference.”

Mourinho champions league“We attacked, Inter defended, but you have to be in great shape to beat Inter and we were not today. I still think Inter merited the win.”

The game started of in a controlled manner with both Inter Milan and Bayern Munich weary of each other, almost as they are testing each others nerves.

But the first 10 minutes saw Inter Milan play the more attacking play but overall not many clear chances were created by either team until the 10th minute when Arjen Robben’s cross was missed by Bayern striker Ivica Olic.

The game started to get slightly more exciting after Olic’s miss as Bayern gained confidence and carried on the attacking play but no real chances were created by either of the teams.

One of the first half’s best attacking play came on the 18th minute when sjneiders freekick from almost 35 metres was saved by Bayern goalkeeper, Hans-Jörg Butt after deflecting of a Bayern defender.

It was obvious from Inter’s play that they were warned by Mourinho of Robben’s threat, Bayern’s most influential player, as the Dutchman has been under mark and has been knocked down several times.

By the 30th minute the ball possession was 67% in favor of Bayern but that possession was much higher for Barcelona at the Nou Camp when they faced Inter Milan in the Semi Final, but Mourinho’s men managed to get through.

Something interesting happened during the first half which saw Jose Mourinho hug Arjen Robben, his former player when at Chelsea. Both men smiled but was it an act by the special one to make the Dutch man loose his concentration or was it affection. Who knows.

The opener of the game came on the 35th min when a long clearance by Iker Casillas, Inter Milan goalkeeper, dropped right in front of Wesley Sneijder who managed to find Milito who striked the ball ever so delicately passed Butt to make it 1-0 Inter Milan.

The goal allowed Bayern to turn the pressure back on Inter Milan with the majority of the rest of the first half finishing with the ball in the Inter half, but the Italians still had a major chance saved on the 43rd minute when Milito managed to put sjneider one on one with the keeper but the Dutchman’s shot was saved by Butt.

No major chances were created by either team after that but the German giants made themselves accepted in the Inter half.

Bayern Munich showed they ment business in the second half when Hamit Altintop set Muller up to go one-on-one with the goal keeper but Casillas managed to save the shot by the German.

However Inter Milan almost immediately responded to Bayern’s attack with a counter attack when Milito who twisted through the Bayern Defense played in Pandev who’s shot was brilliantly saved by the German keeper.

The German giants kept on the pressure but most of the attacks were either saved or defended against but the open space created by the endless attacks by the German’s opened huge spaces for the Italian’s.

A counter attack by Inter saw Milito’s individual brilliance send the ball to the back of the net to score his and Inter’s second goal with a slick shot passed Butt, after giving the shoulder to Daniel van Buyten. Inter Milan vs Bayern Munich 2-0.

The rest of the game did not see any open chances by either of the teams but the German giants just did not manage to exploit the Italian defense. The Italian’s were just too strong at the back and showed the same character against the German’s as they did against Barcelona.

Mourinho’s men secured the treble with the determination and conviction which they showed in the hole season. Mourinho’s men triumphed over Chelsea, Barcelona and Bayern Munich to get the European Championship which they last won in 1965.

Though Inter Milan’s side showed they were not only the champions of Italy but also Europe, one man in particular, Jose Mourinho, who’s name is getting ever so close to Real Madrid, was the person who secured the treble for the Italian’s.

His character, influence on his players and knowledge of the game, brought the Italian side together and made them believe that they were champions.

However Jose Mourinho has put doubt on his future in Italy after he said to Rai TV. “I want to be the only coach to win the Champions League with three different clubs,” It’s more likely that I will leave rather than stay.”

The Portuguese manager also spoke to Sky Sports, where he said: “Great season, incredible season. But at this moment I have not many words to describe how I feel because it’s almost for sure that I will leave. Real Madrid is the only club that wants me.”

Mourinho continued “My target now is to win another championship where I have never won it and another Champions League. And then I return to England.”

Milito who secured the man of the match award with his two decisive goals said “It’s a joy I’ve never experienced. It’s incredible. I am so happy for Inter because we wanted this so badly. We are so happy and it’s a unique sensation,”

Milito was seen with tears in his eyes after scoring his second goal of the match.

  1. It was just amazing what Milito showed us yesterday aggainst Bayern Munich. The Bayern defenders looked quite old compared to him. He could just do what he wanted. The duo Snyder and Milito will be great for the future of Inter Mailand I guess.
