Living and continuing his work in Copenhagen, Denmark, Evren Tekinoktay is preparing to meet art-lovers in Istanbul Turkey with a new gallery of his collage paintings.
The world-renown artist Evren Tekinoktay has organized personal exhibitions in England, Germany, Denmark and Holland and his latest exhibition in Istanbul is expected to attract a great deal of interest.
The artist is sharing his artwork at global exhibitions as well in Turkey, which reflects the rapid development of Turkey at culture and art.
Who is Evren Tekinoktay
Evren Tekinoktay, born in 1972 in Copenhagen, Denmark, is a Danish-Turkish visual artist known for her diverse and vibrant works.
She studied at the Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam from 1993 to 1997 and continued her education at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht between 1997 and 1999. In 1999, she graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
Tekinoktay’s artistic practice originates in collage, utilizing found imagery and familiar visual tropes to explore themes such as the body and desire.
She works across various media, including kinetic and neon sculptures, low-tech video animations, and quilted mirrors, blending elements of feminine craft with a feminist conceptual undertone. Her paper collages and paintings range from erotic to cartoonish, folksy, and glamorous.
Throughout her career, Tekinoktay has held numerous solo exhibitions, including shows at The Approach in London and Collaborations by Tania and Thomas Asbaek in Copenhagen. Her works have been featured in various group exhibitions and art fairs, reflecting her dynamic presence in the contemporary art scene.
