Fenerbahçe’s imprisoned chairman Aziz Yıldırım continues his show to make staunch criticism to the Turkish state in the latest hearing pressing he has ‘ no trust for the state anymore ‘ during his latest match-fixing case defense.
Istanbul / NationalTurk – Fenerbahçe President Aziz Yıldırım has been in jail pending match-fixing scandal charges since July 2011. Highest profile name in the ongoing match fixing investigation of allegedly manipulated games in the 2010-2011 Turkish championship Aziz Yıldırım along with İlhan Ekşioğlu, Yusuf Turanlı and Olgun Peker are the 4 remaining jailed suspects in the match fixing case and its ongoing trials.
However Fenerbahçe’s imprisoned chairman Aziz Yıldırım shows cases of anger and frustration in this week’s hearings. Yıldırım verbally attacked Trabzonspor’ lawyer in the cross hearing section.
Turkey’s Match Fixing Case nears the end
As the Turkish match fixing case nears the end and match fixing trial’s head judge Mehmet Ekinci is expected to make his verdicts on the case this Friday June 29 things went hot in the Istanbul court.
Prosecutor suggests Aziz Yıldırım should be punished for 14 to 39 years and nine months for manipulating the matches fixing six of them, paying incentives to 3 teams and forming an illegal organization to generate unjust income.
Aziz Yıldırım rejected all of the claims yesterday at the 20th hearing in Istanbul’s courthouse, as he has done since his first testimony in the match fixing case. The Fenerbahçe president also argued with Trabzonspor lawyer Nusret Yılmaz in the recent hearing.

‘ Everyone should be aware of, it is Aziz Yıldırım, who turned Trabzonspor into a big club,’ Yıldırım pressed. ‘ Trabzonspor was not a big club, there were the big three [Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray and Beşiktaş from Istanbul] and I turned Trabzonspor to the fourth big. Trabzonspor ‘s rise to that position came after I help them in getting them a bigger income in the broadcasting deals.’
The heated debate between Aziz Yıldırım and Trabzonspor lawyer got worse after the lawyer asked Yıldırım about İlhan Ekşioglu, Fener Vice President. Yıldırım angrily responded ‘ lawyer, ask me questions about me’. The judge of the trial intervened and ripped into jailed Fenerbahce chairman by sayin ‘ Mr Yıldırım, do not interfere, know your place ‘

Yıldırım also argued with the judge. He said he has ‘ no trust for the state anymore ‘ yesterday during his defense hearing in the Turkish match-fixing case.
‘ I used to trust the [Turkish] state but I have no trust for the state anymore,’ stated Fenerbahce chairman Aziz Yıldırım. He continued his ranting ‘ After seeing the prison life, I don’t trust the state. There are people held in jail for 50 Turkish liras. I think they do not trust the state, either.’ he claimed
Match Fixing Case is a plot in Turkey : Aziz Yıldırım
Fener president Yıldırım has long defended the idea that the match fixing case was a plot to take over the coveted Fenerbahçe seat.
‘ The Republic of Fenerbahçe has developed side by side with the Turkish Republic. It has been representing Turkish youth following [founder of the Turkish Republic Mustafa Kemal] Atatürk for decades,’ Yıldırım pressed since start of 2012 during his first defense hearing in the Turkey’s biggest match-fixing case. ‘ That is the reason why there are efforts to damage [the club].”
The prosecutor in the match fixing scandal case issued his final opinion in the case June 1, demanding jail time for 21 players and club executives for their alleged role in last season’s match rigging and game manipulating scandal.
