Indian Defence Minister A K Antony Monday blamed Pakistan army for killing of five of its soldiers at Line of Control (LoC).

New Delhi, Aug 19/Nationalturk- Indian Defence Minister A K Antony Monday blamed Pakistan army for killing of five Indian army men at Line of Control (LoC), the defacto border between two nuclear armed South Asian neighbours in Indian administered Kashmir last month.

“Now, it is clear that Pakistani troops were involved in LoC killings. Nothing happens without facilitation of the Pakistan Army on LoC,” Antony said in Rajya Sabha, upper house of Indian parliament.

He alleged that specialised team of Pakistani Army were involved in LoC killings.

Five Indian army men were killed at LoC in Poonch sector of Indian administered Kashmir last week. India blamed Pakistan army for the attack. However, Pakistan government and army denied the charge.

Indian defence minister today warned Pakistan that brutal killing of Indian soldiers will not go unpunished. “Our restrain should not be taken for granted”.

He said the killing of Indian soldiers and LoC firing will have an impact on India-Pakistan ties.

‘Guilty should not go unpunished’

Antony said guilty should not go unpunished. “Brutal killing will not go unpunished”.

Indian army has accused Pakistan of violating border ceasefire, which came into force in November 2003, more than 70 times so far this year.  It has accused Pakistan troops of regularly targeting their posts and pickets at LoC and border. It has alleged that many Indian army men and civilians have been injured in Pakistani firing at LoC.

In January this year, Indian army accused Pakistan special forces of conducting cross-LoC raid in Poonch sector and killing two of its soldiers. It had alleged that one of its soldiers was beheaded by the Pakistani troops.

Pakistan army too has accused India of unprovoked firing on its posts and civilian areas in Pakistan administered Kashmir.

Pakistan army has said two civilians were killed and many others injured in Indian firing in last fortnight.
