Manchester City introduces Haaland – contract details are now also clear

Manchester City announce Erling Haaland's commitment, now the contract period is clear - and the former BVB striker gives an indication of which number he could wear on his jersey in the future.

The move from star striker Erling Haaland to English soccer champions Manchester City is perfect. The 21-year-old Norwegian has signed a contract with coach Pep Guardiola’s team until 2027. City announced this on Monday. Haaland was able to leave Borussia Dortmund for the fixed fee of 75 million euros, both clubs had already agreed on a transfer a month ago.

“I want to score goals, win trophies and improve as a footballer. I’m confident I can do it here. It’s a great move for me. I can’t wait to start preparing,” said Haaland, his father Alf Inge also played for City from 2000 to 2003.

Haaland himself has already given an indication of his future shirt number, tweeting a photo of himself as a small child in his father’s jersey with the number 15 on the back.

The Norwegian national striker switched from Red Bull Salzburg to BVB in January 2020. In 89 games, Haaland scored 86 goals for the Bundesliga club and won the DFB Cup with the Black and Yellows in 2021. Several top clubs had advertised for Haaland. He admires City’s football style, said Haaland. “It’s exciting and they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me.”
