Wesley Sneijder could not agree with Inter Milan and Manchester United transfer bid became apparent £35 million.

Manchester United are on alert for Wesley Sneijder again after the midfielder’s contract bust-up at Inter Milan. Old Trafford manager Alex Ferguson was ready to pay £35million for the Dutch international last summer. Inter want Sneijder, 28, to take a pay cut but he is refusing to renegotiate a new deal. He rapped: “There is little reason for me to sign.”

The Holland international’s future at the Serie A club has been cast into doubt in recent weeks, with the Nerazzurri keen for the playmaker to take a pay cut and extend his current deal from 2015 to 2016.

Sneijder has not featured for Inter since September due to injury but was left out of the side that beat Palermo 1-0 at the weekend.

The 28-year-old is a long-term target of Manchester United and came close to sealing a move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2011.

Sneijder is 29 next June and so fits the profile of an established top-line player that moved Sir Alex Ferguson to sign Robin van Persie last August for £23m at the same age. United have tracked him since the summer of 2010, with the deal to secure his transfer 16 months ago reportedly breaking down due to his pay demands.

And Sneijder on Monday confirmed that he would not be signing a new contract at the San Siro unless his situation changes.

“At this moment in time I have no reason to sign,” said Sneijder. “How can I accept a new contract under these conditions when I am not even playing?
“As it stands, my decision is to not sign for Inter.”

Wesley Sneijder has scored 25 goals in 114 appearances for Inter since moving to Italy from Real Madrid in 2009.
