Jose Mourinho 3-1 Abramovich: Point proven

We wrote late last week of the depth and importance of the Chelsea Vs Inter Milan game. It was not only a Champions League clash of the titans, it was personal.

Jose Mourinho did his utmost to defuse the matter to the media that it was just a high profile game in the Champions League, but his eye’s always spoke the truth.

The Chelsea Vs Inter Milan Champions League knock out match was always going to be personal for Mourinho.

“The Special One” tried his best in the pre-match conference with the press to keep it only as a Chelsea Vs Inter Milan game, insisting that the game is not personal.

The former Chelsea Manager who also happens to be the clubs most successful manager of all time told of his admiration to the clubs players and fans.

Mourinho said “I feel at home here. I walked in through the door. I go to the second floor where there are people that I know. I go to the third floor where there are people that I know. People come to me.”

Mourinho even spoke of returning to the Premiership in the future when he spoke of his career plans. Mourinho explained “I have three things to do in my career, The first thing is to be back in English football, another thing is to win the Spanish championship because no-one has won the Spanish, English and Italian titles. And another one, when I am old, is to coach my national team.”

Mourinho’s love of England and Chelsea is no secret, but he defiantly held back his emotions regarding Roman Abramovich.

Mourinho ultimately came to Chelsea because of Abramovich, but left because of him as well. The off pitch politics has ended the rain of a real Portugese superstar.

Turkish Football manager, Hurser Tekinoktay said “90% of a game is up to the footballers and 10% belongs to the manager, but that 10% is needed to win a game.”

Jose Mourinho, with his attitude, show and brilliance totally proves this saying to be correct but with a twist. Mourinho almost takes the 90% for himself and leaves the players with 10%.

We saw Inter Milan take only four points from the possible nine in the past three weeks as Mourinho served a three match sideline ban due to his usual naughty antics.

This small thought shows how important Mourinho is to Inter Milan and the players.

Now to the Chelsea game. Much of the press spoke of Chelsea beating Inter, and most people were surprised at Inter’s performance.

But why is it so much of a surprise? It definitely should not be. Some one in Mourinho’s stature can easily be possible of beating any team let alone his former beloved Chelsea. The same club with the same player with the same crowd in the same stadium.

I mean here is a guy that spent three hugely successful years at a club (Chelsea) that had their most successful period with Mourinho. So why is it such a huge success for Inter to beat Chelsea. It’s not.

Anyone that understands football would have known that it would have been a surprise if Chelsea had won this game.

59924085Mourinho, no matter how much he did not speak of it and when he did, denied it. This game was personal for him. It was this game that mourinho could ultimately prove that Abramovich made a huge mistake, It was this game that showed how important Mourinho was to Chelsea.

During the game “The Special One” had orchestrated another brilliant symphony for all eye’s to watch.

His greatness already felt within the Stanford Bridge stands as the cheering and chanting of the crowed when he stepped into the field.

He kept the back tight and new that while Chelsea would attack, they will start to make mistakes at the back which his team full of stars will be able to capitalise on.

The plan worked as usual and one Samuel Eto’o came to action on the 78th minute to pounce on a beautiful Wesley Sneijder cross.

After the game Mourinho said “We were the best team by far, we deserve this victory, this must be almost a perfect performance. they tried to get back with conflict, long balls and diving in the box but I think everything we did was superior.”

Mourinho at the Chelsea gameMourinho also admited that he “celebrated a lot in the dressing room” but is he to blame.

Mourinho also re-iterated that he might come back to the premiership some day by saying “Who knows, in the future I may coach another English team and I will come here, again as an opponent,” .

Mourinho carried on to say that he does not think he will be special in Stanford Bridge no more as the Chelsea fans will never forgive him after the game.

I beg to differ. In the eyes of Chelsea fans, Mourinho will always be someone to be reckoned with. Mourinho is “the special one”, his name written in gold in the clubs and premierships history.

Why? Because of his personality, because of what he added to the premiership and because of all the silverware by the museum at Stanford Bridge which he helped decorate so beautifully.

Mourinho will always be special at Stanford Bridge. Mourinho is “the special one”.
