After their meeting, TFF Executive Committee announced their decision about match-fixing allegations in Turkish football by a press conference in Swissotel The Bhosphorus, Istanbul.

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) announced its decision following a two-hour meeting in the organization’s headquarters in İstinye, Istanbul.

The TFF avoided hereby a decision on the teams and officials involved in Turkey’s biggest match-fixing probe scandal, mentioning that they’ll wait until “an indictment is issued.”

Because of the “confidential” status of the investigation and TFF cannot show the evidence and accusations to the suspects in prison, the TFF could not reach a decision on any sort of punishment, the chairman informed.

In the press conference, TFF President, Mehmet Ali Aydınlar, stated :

” As you all know, after TFF’s request within the scope of law, some documents about chicane case were taken by İstanbul Public Prosecution Office with a special authority. These documents were investigated by TFF Ethics Committee. In this phase, it is not true that taking a decision by TFF, without getting all evidences.”

”To make a legal discipline judgment by TFF, the secrecy decision must be removed and the indictment must be accepted about the case. Then; TFF can take the advocacies of the suspicious clubs and persons and after investigating all the documents about the case, TFF Ethics Committee will prepare a report. After all these processes, TFF Executive Committee will take their decision within the scope of law and justice. Shortly; TFF Executive Committee will wait to judge until İstanbul Public Prosecution Office with a special authority present the indicment about the case.”

Tff chairman Aydınlar stated the arrested sports officials, players and coaches would be sent to the Professional Football Disciplinary Committee, or PFDK, regarding their football bans.

Biggest match fixing scandal in Turkey : Case within the scope of law and justice

Last season’s Spor Toto Super League champions Fenerbahce Istanbul, runner-ups Trabzonspor and Ziraat Turkish Cup holders Besiktas are the three high-profile teams involved in the case, and all risk being relegated from the top flight for the first time in their history, while Sivasspor, Eskişehirspor and Istanbul BB from Turkish Super League and League One sides Giresunspor and Diyarbakırspor have also been involved in the match fixing probe scandal.

More than 90 people have been detained while a total of 31 people have been arrested as part of the match fixing probe scandal.

Five Fenerbahçe officials, including Chairman Aziz Yıldırım, have been jailed pending trial since 1,5 months.
