The Turkish Prime Minister Recip Tayyab Erdogan arrived on a two-day visit to Pakistan on Monday.

Islamabad, Dec 23/Nationalturk – In order to further boost friendship and ties between the two countries, Turkish Prime Minister Recip Tayyab Erdogan arrived on a two-day visit to Pakistan on Monday.

On his arrival at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore, Erdogan was accorded warm welcome by Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province Shahbaz Sharif.

The Turkish Prime Minister was accorded 21 cannon salute on his arrival while a beautiful display of fireworks was also held to welcome the guest.

Stringent security measures were put in place.

The Turkish PM is leading a delegation comprising ministers‚ businessmen and entrepreneurs to explore the investment avenues in diverse fields in Pakistan.

‘Erdogan’s visit will boost Pakistan-Turkey ties’

“The visit of Turkish PM Erdogan to Pakistan will help boost trade and investment cooperation between the two countries,” Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam has said.

During his two-day stay in Pakistan, Erdogan is likely to sign a number of agreements on coal power projects‚ construction of dames and energy sectors with Pakistan.

Erdogan may also address the joint session of Pakistan Parliament.

‘Pakistan has strong relations with Turkey’

Earlier, in an interview to a foreign TV channel, Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif  had said  the country has strong relations with Turkey.

He said Pakistan have partnership with Turkey in transport sector and the two countries need to harness the full potential of friendship in other fields as well.

“I recently visited Turkey and was greatly impressed by the progress made by Turkey,” he said adding Pakistan wants businessmen of Turkey to invest in the country.

Nawaz said Pakistan government will set up a Special Economic Zone, where special incentives will be offered to investors. “A modern Islamabad Airport is being built and network of highways are planned and we would encourage Pakistan-Turkey partnership in these projects”, he had said.
