Reports are coming in that around 60 people have been abducted in a tribal area in North West Pakistan.

Around 60 people have been abducted by militants in North West Pakistan while they were in their cars officials have announced.

The people thought to be employee’s of an unknown company, had gone to the Kurram area to work but were abducted on the way back.

Chaman Mir, the area police chief confirmed that people were kidnapped in the Kurram area on Saturday including women and children, but there were sketchy details.

It is thought that hundreds of militants were involved in the abduction.

The Kurram area, which is a militant stronghold is a common place where Robberies and kidnapping for ransom occur. But such an incident where so many people have been abducted has not been experienced before.

The area is also notorious for clashes between majority Sunni Muslims and the minority Shiite.
