Spokesman for EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said that what they wanted to do today was kick off a sustained process in nuclear talks with Iran.
Speaking to reporters about a fresh round of nuclear negotiations between the P5 1 countries (Five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) and Iran that began in Istanbul, Spokesman Michael Mann said that they started a new process.
”
What is gonna happen today is we hope that there will be some positive noises or proposals from the Iranian side that they want to engage in a serious substantive process of talks,” he said.
“If this round is successful we will be able to announce at the end of the day that there will be a second round,” he said.
Mann said that if Iran convinced the international community that program was implemented for peaceful means and it would comply with commitments, then talks could end.
