A first in Turkish football! Cüneyt Çakır returned with applause…

Cüneyt Çakır, who was excluded from the list by the Central Arbitration Board on March 8, returned to the Super League with the Antalyaspor-Kayserispor match.

While the fans in Antalya showed great interest to Cüneyt Çakır, a referee in Turkish football was applauded, perhaps for the first time, except for his jubilee.

Experienced referee Cüneyt Çakır was excluded from the list with 12 referees on March 8 during Ferhat Gündoğdu’s term at MHK. The arbitrators, who were excluded from the list together with Çakır, applied to the Arbitration Board after the decision. The arbitral award of the MHK was reversed by the Board of Arbitration.

Cüneyt Çakır, who was expected to serve in the 2022 World Cup, was assigned a long time after Sabri Çelik became the President of the MHK. Çakır was assigned to Antalyaspor – Kayserispor in the 34th week of the Super League.

As Cüneyt Çakır and his assistants took the field in Antalya, applause arose from the stands. Cüneyt Çakır responded to the applause rising from the stands with applause. The players and technical delegations of both teams came to Cüneyt Çakır and hugged the experienced referee.

Perhaps for the first time in the history of the Super League, a referee was applauded outside of his jubilee.
