De Bruyne brace makes City celebrate against United

Manchester United had to play the derby against City without Cristiano Ronaldo. Ralf Rangnick’s team was the inferior team for over 90 minutes – and deservedly lost. Kevin De Bruyne also played a major role in this.

Manchester City won the city derby against United. Pep Guardiola’s team beat the “Red Devils” 4-1 and thus extended their lead over Liverpool FC (currently one game less) to six points again.

The former Bremen and Wolfsburg player Kevin De Bruyne became the match winner for City, scoring both 1-0 (5th minute) and 2-1 (28th). Ex-BVB player Jadon Sancho scored to make it 1-1 (22nd). Riyad Mahrez increased to 3:1 (68th) in the middle of the second half and even made it 4:1 (90th) shortly before the final whistle.

The “Skyblues” controlled the game for the full 90 minutes and hardly gave the opponent, who started without the injured Cristiano Ronaldo, a chance to score.

The defeat puts United further behind in the race for a Champions League spot. The Rangnick team is currently in fifth place with 47 points, one point and place behind Arsenal. However, the Gunners have played three games fewer (25 games) than United (28).
