Guus Hiddink and Turkish Football Federation contract debated in Parliament

The contract between the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) and Guus Hiddink and the Dutchman’s wages and expences have been debated in the Turkish Parliament (TBMM).

Democratic Left Party (DSP) general secretary and Denizli MP Hasan Erçelebi, raised the issue over the agreement with Hiddink, the wages paid for Hiddink and the TFF’s attitude on the issue has raised eyebrows with the Turkish football community.

Erçelebi, demanded for his questions to be answered by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan after question marks were raised over the former Real Madrid and Chelsea managers expenses and who were paying them.

According to the contract between Guus Hiddink and the TFF, the experienced Dutchman signed an eight million Euro contract over six year with two years being optional.

Here are some of the questions which the Turkish sports community wants answered.

– Did the Turkish Football Federation sign a confidential agreement with Hiddink?
– Is the TFF allowed to make such an agreement?
– Why did Hiddink want such a confidential agreement on his contract?
– Is Hiddink paying the taxes of the wages he receives as the Turkish National manager to Turkey or to another country?
– Is the wages Hiddink receives, all from the TFF or are their third parties involved such as sponsors?
– Are the payments made to the Dutch manager being paid into Turkish banks or foreign banks?
– Are the payments being made to Hiddink being transferred to any other countries other than Turkey or Holland?
– Did Hiddink sign the contract with the TFF as a Dutch National or another nationality?
– Does the TFF allow such contracts between footballers and managers with club sides in Turkey?
– Why does Hiddink reside in Holland so frequently and if he stays in a hotel in Holland, whos pays for his fees?

The questions were raised after it emerged that the world famous football manager had been tried and found guilty of tax evasion in Holland in 2007, while he was the manager of the Russian National side and Chelsea.

It emerged that the Dutch manager had evaded 1.4 million Euro worth of tax and received a prison sentence of 10 months.

However Hiddink paid a fee of 45,000 Euros and received a six month suspended sentence.

In this case, it is of vital importance if Hiddink immigrated to Turkey or if he showed his country of residence in Holland and received a temporary work permit in Turkey.

The reason behind the importance of this information is that both conditions allow different rates of tax.

These question marks have been raised especially after the amateur football display the Turkish National side made against Germany on Friday in the Euro 2012 qualification match.
