Inter were on the attack from the start of the game and took the lead through Argentine and Inter Milan veteran Javier Zanetti in just the 68th second.

Stancovic celebrates after scoring his teams third goal after a beautiful spell of passes.

Cameroon and former Barcelona star Eto’O who received the ball after a long passing spell laid of a superb through ball to 37-year-old Zanetti who slickly shot passed Tottenham goal keeper Heurelho Gomes to make it Inter Milan Vs Tottenham 1-0.

Zanetti’s goal was the sign of the weakness in Tottenham’s defense and further lapses showed throughout the game which is something I put to the lack of experience the majority of the Spurs players had in Champions League level.

Inter Milan’s hunger was purely visible and just 6 minute after the first goal, Sjneider’s beautiful 40 meter pass was met by 22-year-old French U-21 International Jonathan Biabiany, who was brought down by Gomez in the penalty area.

Tottenham’s nightmarish day had just gotten worst after Brazilian keeper Gomez received a red for his challenge on Biabiany and a penalty was awarded. Eto’O stepped up to make it Inter Milan Vs Tottenham 2-0.

Perhaps one of the most shocking defensive displays of the night came on the 13th minute after Inter Milan were able to complete 20 odd passes before Brazilian Maicon was able to find Dejan Stankovic who did a slick one-two pass with Eto’O and was left breathtakingly alone to smash passed Tottenham Substitute keeper Carlo Cudicini. Tottenham’s best chance of the first half came on the 27th minute after Lennon passes Zanetti and Chivu to cross the ball over Inter Milan keeper Julio Cesar only for Crouch to head the ball over the cross bar.

Inter Milan made it 4-0 on the 34th minute after Eto’O received after a well executed through ball and though Gallas appealed for off-side the Cameroon International shot past Cudicini. Inter Milan Vs Tottenham 4-0.

Inter Milan’s display of football in the first half was one feasible for the Italian giants and reigning Champions League Champions. Tottenham’s defensive and attacking lapses were too evident in the first half and proved to be devastating for the Premiership club.

Ten men Tottenham started the first half on a high after a glorious run by Gareth Bale who picked the ball from behind the half way line sprinted past three players and smashed it to the bottom right corner. Inter Milan Vs Tottenham 4-1.

The second half almost looked as though Tottenham were rejuvenated as the players were attacking and challenging the ball, something they failed to do in the first half.

I speculate that Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp must have just asked his players to enjoy the moment and to save their pride in the dressing room.

Gareth Bale completes a sensational hattrick but it was not enough to Tottenham.

But regardless of what Redknapp said in the changing room, Tottenham were a team on a mission, and I predict, had they not be down to 10 men for 83 minutes of the game, the result would have been different, especially from the second half display.
However it was disappointing for Tottenham that the goals came later in the half with Gareth Bale scoring another brilliant goal on the 89th minute which literally mirrored his first.

Bale ran passed the left flank and took a beautiful shot passed the Inter goal keeper beautifully finishing to the bottom right hand corner. Inter Milan Vs Tottenham 4-2

Just a minute later another burst, this time from Lennon who laid it off to Bale finishes his hattrick again smashing the ball into the right corner of the goal. Inter Milan Vs Tottenham 4-3

However Tottenham’s superb come back was cut short by the referee’s whistle with the end of the game.

Tottenham showed great composure and with the second half performance especially with a man down for almost the entire game, I believe they disserved at least a draw.

However the Tottenham defense face a serious questioning of their hideous first half defending which left Inter Milan 4-0 up. Though the English club was down to ten men after the 7th minute, their performance just looker too amateur level.

But it is fair to say, the Tottenham defense redeemed themselves in the second half but it just goes to show how important every goal is, especially in Champions League level.

Inter Milan are now leading Group A with seven points followed by Tottenham who has four points. German club Werder Bremen and Dutch side Twente have two points each after the two clubs managed a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.
