NBA star LeBron James is considering retiring

The Los Angeles Lakers have been eliminated from the NBA playoffs. Now superstar LeBron James is even thinking about retiring.

NBA superstar LeBron James wants to think about his future as a basketball player after the playoff with the Los Angeles Lakers.

“At this point in my career, all I do is play to win titles. I don’t get a kick out of being in the conference finals. I’ve been there – many times. I don’t enjoy it if I’m not a part of it, in to come to the finals,” said the 38-year-old league points record holder on Monday evening (local time) after the fourth loss in the fourth game against the Denver Nuggets.

“I have a lot to think about”

Regarding his future, he says: “We’ll see what happens. There’s a lot to think about. I don’t know. I have a lot to think about, if I’m honest. How basketball is going for me personally, since there’s a lot to think about.”

The “ESPN” broadcaster reported shortly after the press conference on a brief exchange between James and a reporter. When asked how his comment should be understood, James replied: “Do I want to continue playing?” And when asked if he would just leave ahead of the upcoming season, he said: “I’ll have to think about that.”

James had signed a new contract with the Lakers last fall, which is valid until the 2024/2025 season if he takes the option for the second year. James will be 40 years old in December 2024. In the past he has expressed several times that he would like to play on an NBA team with his eldest son. LeBron James Jr., known as Bronny, will play in college for the University of Southern California next season and won’t be in the NBA until the 2024/2025 season at the earliest.

The NBA season is over for the Los Angeles Lakers!

The team around superstar LeBron James also loses the fourth game of the Western Conference Finals in the playoffs against the Denver Nuggets with 111:113 and fails without a single win.

At the break, the record champion is still 15 points ahead, James trumps with 31 points. However, the Lakers’ performance dropped and in return Nikola Jokic with 30 points (14 rebounds, 13 assists) and Jamal Murray with 25 points shine on the Nuggets’ side. James ends up with 40 points.

Denver is now in the NBA Finals for the first time in history – with the first sweep in franchise history. The opponent will probably be called the Miami Heat. Miami leads 3-0 in the series against the Boston Celtics and can fix the finals on Wednesday night.
