Amber Heard is appealing the verdict

Amber Heard does not want to recognize the defeat in court.

Amber Heard insists on a new trial against her ex-husband Johnny Depp.

Accompanied by a worldwide media spectacle, the former couple Amber Heard and Johnny Depp publicly argued in court for weeks. The two Hollywood stars had accused each other of defamation. In early June, the jury found both guilty.

However, they sentenced the “Aquaman” actress to pay her ex-husband more than $10 million in damages, while the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star is said to pay her just $2 million in damages.

“We believe the court made mistakes”

However, Amber Heard does not want to accept that. A request for a new trial has already been rejected, but now her lawyers are officially appealing the verdict. The reason: “We believe that the court made mistakes that prevented a just and fair judgment,” said a spokesman for the 36-year-old on Thursday. He referred to the first US constitutional principle, which protects freedom of expression.

Depp sued Heard, to whom he was married between 2015 and 2017, for $50 million in damages. The reason was a contribution by Heard for the “Washington Post” from 2018, in which the actress described herself as a victim of domestic violence.

The 36-year-old did not name her ex-husband; However, Depp argued that the allegation was clearly aimed at him and had seriously damaged his career. Heard responded with a counterclaim against the 59-year-old.
