Australia records COVID-19 deaths

Australia reported three more deaths along with 28 new cases of the novel coronavirus in southeastern Victoria state.

The number of confirmed infections in the country rose to 26,939, while the death toll reached 854, Victoria’s Premier Daniel Andrews said at a news conference.

The number of recoveries in the country stands at 24,152.

New Zealand, meanwhile, reported no fresh coronavirus cases or deaths in the last two days, said Director General of Health Ashley Bloomfield.

The country has reported a total of 1,815 cases, with only three still hospitalized. Most coronavirus patients have recovered and there remain only 61 active cases, Bloomfield added.

A total of 25 patients in New Zealand have died due to COVID-19.
