Because of Corona, many Germans are planning their holidays in their own country again this year. But where do people in this country prefer to stay overnight? As every year, Tripadvisor has chosen the best hotels in Germany.
For the 20th time, Tripadvisor has chosen the winners of the “Travellers’ Choice Awards” for hotels in various categories, including the best hotels in Germany. The only winners are those who manage to satisfy their guests at a consistently high level. Thousands of holidaymakers submit their reviews to Tripadvisor every year, and the ranking of the best hotels in Germany is based on the number and quality of the reviews. This also explains why there are often surprises in the rankings, because it is not the opinion of individual testers that is relevant, but that of thousands of guests.
The best hotel in Germany is in Bavaria
After the Berlin design hotel with the simple name “Q!” was in first place last year, this year the title goes to the Hotel Edelweiss in Berchtesgaden, Bavaria. The four-star superior hotel is located in the pedestrian zone of the town with 7,600 inhabitants and is surrounded by the idyllic scenery of the Berchtesgaden Alps. On the upper floor, the hotel has a 2,000 square meter wellness area with pools, saunas and steam bath, from which you have a fantastic view of the mountains. The family-run hotel also has four restaurants, including a beer garden.
This year, the Romantik Hotel Achterdiek on the East Frisian island of Juist made it into second place among the best hotels in Germany, having ranked eighth in the previous year. Third place goes to the Oberjoch Familux Resort in the Allgäu. The latter appears for the first time ever in the top ten best hotels in Germany according to Tripadvisor.
