Tens of thousands of Haitians are expected to have been killed in the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti on Tuesday.

It is estimated that over three million people have been displaced due to their homes collapsing or being too damaged to live in.

Medical aid agency Medicins sans Frontieres has reported a massive influx of casualties at hastily set up clinics, with many suffering from severe injuries.

The injured are not being treated in time and many more are catching infections due to the conditions of the over worked clinics.

Search teams have worked into the dark to look for those who may have survived the quake.

Large sums of foreign aid for three million is said to be in need is anticipated to begin arriving again within hours.

Many of those who can are leaving, however millions are left behind in a country that can barely function, even without a disaster.
