Police release details of Sinéad O’Connor’s death

Irish singer Sinead O’Connor has died unexpectedly at the age of 56. The first details about the circumstances of death are now being made public.

The British newspaper “Daily Mail” has received a police report. Accordingly, O’Connor was found lifeless in south-east London.

“Police were called at 11.18am on Wednesday 26 July following reports of an unresponsive woman at a residential building in the SE24 area. Officers arrived. A 56-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.” , according to the statement by the authorities. The death of the Irish musician was not classified as suspicious, coroners were consulted. “The next of kin have been notified,” it is further announced.

Sinéad O’Connor only moved back to the British capital at the beginning of July. According to “Mail Online” she is said to have described the city as her “home”. She was looking forward to her life there a few days before her death, wanted to go to ballet performances and work on new songs. An exact cause of death has not yet been released.

The 56-year-old, who rose to fame with her hit song “Nothing Compares 2 U,” is survived by three children, two sons and a daughter. A third son, Shane, died in January last year at the age of 17. The family confirmed O’Connor’s death in a statement shared with the Irish Times. It said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinead.
