Recession is over but still in the horizon

recessionBritain managed to crawl out of the longest running recession in modern history today as reports have said the recession is over.

The global recession which started in September 2009 after the failure and merging of a number of American financial companies, which was not a surprise as many business journals had been commenting on the stability of the leading American and European financial firms following the Sub-Prime Mortgage Crisis.

So why were we not better protected from such an occasion?

Britain was the last major economy to get out of the recession after the United States, China, Germany, Japan and France who were officially out of the recession crisis between July and September last year.

Though Britain was out of recession it’s not all happy days as the economy grew by only 0.1 percent between October and December which was bellow of expectations of 0.4 percent.

The figures mean that the government must work much harder to keep Britain from going back into recession.

In 2009 as a whole, the economy fell by more than 4.8 per cent, the fastest pace of decline in a single year for 88 years, and more than in any other 12-month period since the Great Depression of the 1930s.
