“Alf” and “Seinfeld” star Liz Sheridan has died

She starred in two of the most successful US series of the 1990s and became world famous with “Alf” and “Seinfeld”. Actress Liz Sheridan has died at the age of 93.

The American actress Liz Sheridan is dead. Her manager Amanda Hendon confirmed this to the industry magazine “The Hollywood Reporter”. Sheridan died of natural causes at her home in New York on Friday, five days after her 93rd birthday.

The American gained international fame primarily through the cult series “Alf”, in which she played the curious neighbor Mrs. Ochmonek from 1986 to the end of the series in 1990.

“The most loving and kind TV mom”

That same year, Liz Sheridan landed her next big TV role on the hit sitcom Seinfeld, in which she played Jerry Seinfeld’s mother for all nine seasons through 1998. Her serial son said goodbye to Twitter.

“Liz was the most loving and kindest TV mother a son could wish for,” the actor wrote about a joint photo, emphasizing: “I’m so lucky to have known her.” Numerous colleagues and fans also expressed their grief for Liz Sheridan on social media.

Love affair with James Dean

The New York native had been in front of the camera since the early 1980s. However, she had started her career in show business long before that as a dancer on Broadway. In 1951 she met the then unknown actor James Dean. She wrote about their love story in the book “Dizzy & Jimmy: My Life With James Dean: A Love Story”. It ended when Dean went to Hollywood.

From 1985 until his death in 2003, Liz Sheridan was married to jazz trumpeter and writer Dale Wales. She leaves behind their daughter.
