Gerhard Schröder has been criticized for months because of his closeness to Russia.

Now the ex-Chancellor is apparently in Moscow.

Former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder is currently in the Russian capital. Moscow is a beautiful city and he is vacationing there for a few days, he told the news site ntv. When it was pointed out that the headquarters of the Russian oil company Rosneft was also located there, Schröder replied: “Is that so? Oh yes, that’s right, you’re right.”

After the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, the former Chancellor was criticized for his closeness to Russia and his position on the board of Rosneft. He resigned in May and also turned down a position on the board of directors of the gas company Gazprom.

According to his own statements, he traveled to Russia in March with the aim of persuading Russian President Vladimir Putin to make peace. There was also massive criticism for the trip.
