Nine-year-old Prince George and his younger siblings, seven-year-old Princess Charlotte and four-year-old Prince Louis, have their first day of school this Thursday after summer vacation. On Wednesday there was already a taster day. The parents of the three little royals came with them: Duchess Kate and Prince William.
The palace also invited a photographer to take new pictures of the family. The two boys and Charlotte wore the school uniforms of the private Lambrook School near Ascot. In the case of George and Louis, dark blue shorts and a white and blue checked shirt. Charlotte wore the girls’ version: a blue and white checked dress with a button placket and collar.
Prince William, in a dark blue suit with a light shirt, harmonized perfectly with his offspring. Duchess Kate, who chose a rust-red dress with white dots for the appointment, stood out. After all: Like the looks of her family members, hers also had a collar.
New school after moving
During the summer holidays, William and Kate had moved with their children from Kensington Palace in central London to Windsor, about 40 kilometers away, to Adelaide Cottage to be precise. Find out more about the family’s new home here.
According to reports, the two 40-year-olds want to give their children more freedom of movement than they have been used to in the city. In addition, they now live closer to Queen Elizabeth II, who has been staying almost exclusively at her former weekend home at Windsor Castle for some time. Due to health reasons, she no longer constantly travels back and forth between London and Windsor.
But from the great-grandmother, who currently has to take it easy, back to the offspring: For all children, the start of the new school year means a new start at a different school. But it should be particularly exciting for baby Louis. The pre-school year is now beginning for him and he is gaining his first experiences of being a school child.
