Now Jerry Harris has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

A court has sentenced American series star Jerry Harris to 12 years in prison. The 22-year-old, who is known for the Netflix documentary series “Cheer”, is said to have persuaded a 17-year-old to send him sexually explicit photos for money.

This is reported by CNN after the Chicago court’s decision, which the judge announced after a nearly seven-hour hearing. In addition, Harris is said to have traveled to Florida to engage in “illicit sexual activity” with a 15-year-old boy. Harris told the court he regretted his actions, saying they were “wrong and selfish”.

The FBI arrested Harris in September 2020 after a house search on suspicion of creating child pornography content. The actor was originally charged with seven misdemeanors. After confessing to two acts in February 2022, the remaining points were dropped. After his sentence, he is to remain under judicial supervision for eight years.

“Reflects the seriousness of his crimes”

Jerry Harris starred in the Netflix docuseries Cheer from 2020. He was part of the Navaroro College cheerleading team in Corsicana, Texas, who accompanied the format. Fans particularly liked him for his eccentric nature. In 2020 he served as Oscar correspondent for the “Ellen DeGeneres Show”.

The second season of “Cheer”, released in 2021, deals with the allegations against him, two of his accusers and their mother and lawyer have their say. They also report that Harris repeatedly asked them for nude photos. After the verdict, the lawyer said, according to “USA Today”: “The sentence he received reflects the seriousness of his crimes and the lifelong pain that his victims will suffer.”
