Princess changes school: Isabella from Denmark goes to boarding school

More and more royals are going to boarding school: After Alexia from the Netherlands and Leonor from Spain, Isabella from Denmark will now also change schools. The princess follows her older brother.

In April 2021, the Danish royal family announced that Prince Christian intends to continue his schooling at Herlufsholm Gymnasium in Naestved and will be enrolled there as a boarding school student after the summer holidays. The 16-year-old seems to like it there so much that his younger sister now wants to change schools.

Changing schools after the summer holidays

The Danish royals announced on Instagram: “In the coming school year, Her Royal Highness Princess Isabella would like to continue her education at Herlufsholm in Næstved, where His Royal Highness Prince Christian attends high school.” The 14-year-old will be registered at the boarding school and then attend the ninth grade after the summer holidays.

Previously, the daughter of Mary and Frederik of Denmark was at Tranegårdskolen near Copenhagen. The school is about 20 minutes by car from Amalienborg Palace, where the family lives. It takes more than an hour to drive to the new school for the teenage siblings.

Further away from home were Alexia of the Netherlands and Leonor of Spain. The two girls left their home country and have been attending boarding school in Wales since last summer. There, the two girls do the so-called International Baccalaureate (IB), a globally recognized Abitur. Incidentally, two years at the elite school cost 90,000 euros. At Christian and Isabella’s school, a single school year “only” costs around 20,000 euros.

On Instagram, Royal fans wish the student success in her new phase of life. “Good luck Princess Isabella for your new chapter in your life,” wrote one user, for example. “It’s going to be exciting for Isabella,” commented another user.
