Coronavirus in France: 46,000 new cases in 24 hours

Every thirty seconds, a person is hospitalized after having contracted a serious form of Covid-19. The results of Public Health France confirm this again this Sunday evening with increasing indicators.

More than 3,500 Covid-19 patients are now hospitalized in intensive care or intensive care, according to Public Health France, which recorded 46,290 new cases of contamination and 231 deaths over 24 hours on Sunday evening.

The number of people in shifts is 3,569, with 289 new admissions in 24 hours, according to published figures.

The number of resuscitation beds, already raised from 5,100 to 5,800 after the first epidemic wave, rose to 6,400 at the start of the week and should soon exceed 7,000, according to the Minister of Health Olivier Véran.

A rise in power intended to avoid the saturation of hospitals, while the projections of the Pasteur Institute predict around 6,000 patients in intensive care in mid-November, even if the confinement in force since Friday should be as effective as that of the spring.

46,290 new cases of contamination were recorded over 24 hours, against 35,641 the day before, and the proportion of contaminated people among the people tested (positivity rate) increased slightly to 20.4%, against 20.2% the day before.

Also within 24 hours, the epidemic caused 231 more deaths in hospitals. France now has at least 37,019 dead from Covid-19 since the start of the epidemic.

The number of people hospitalized is 24,008, against 23,013 on Saturday (+995). Hospitals have welcomed 1,884 new Covid patients over the past 24 hours.
