Hollywood star Clu Gulager has died at the age of 93.

Clu Gulager is dead. The American actor died of natural causes on August 5 at the home of his son John Gulager and daughter-in-law Diane in Los Angeles. The two told the “Hollywood Reporter”. The movie star was 93 years old.

William Martin “Clu” Gulager was born in Oklahoma in 1928 and grew up on his uncle’s farm there. After serving in the US Marines, he trained as an actor in Texas and Paris. In the mid-fifties he moved to New York and quickly gained a foothold in the television business. As the “Oklahoma cowboy,” Gulager made a name for himself in western series.

Above all, his roles as Billy the Kid in “The Tall Man”, which he embodied between 1960 and 1962, and as Sheriff Ryker, whom he then played for five years in “The People from the Shiloh Ranch”, made him famous.

Last role in “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood”

But the actor could also be seen on the big screen. Among other things, he played in the thriller “The Death of a Killer” or in “The Hidden – The Unspeakable Evil” and other horror films. Producer Sean Baker, who will work with Gulager on the drama Tangerine L.A. wrote on Twitter: “He was incredibly talented, hilarious, gentle and kind. And he loved the cinema. We will miss you Clu.”

Overall, Clu Gulager has appeared in more than 150 film and television productions during his more than 60-year Hollywood career. He stood in front of the camera until old age, most recently in Quentin Tarantino’s blockbuster “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood” from 2019 as a bookstore owner.

The Hollywood star was married to singer and actress Miriam Byrd-Nethery from 1952 until her death in 2003. In addition to son John, Tom Gulager also comes from the marriage. Both work like their parents as actors.
