From the beginning of Eastern, at least 18 people died in Central American country of Nicaragua.

The amount of human losses in the first two days of the catholic celebration is bellow the 31 reported in the same period of 2012, said the journal.

This time, from Palm Sunday to Holy Monday, among the deceased, 9 were drowned people, 3 were homicide victims, 4 from traffic accidents,1 was electrocuted and 1 died from natural causes.

Most of the victims, 17, died during the first day of festivities.

From the total amount of deceased, seven were between 1 to 18 years old; 13 were male and 5 female.

Prior to the season, Nicaraguan authorities called civilians to be careful, particularly at beach areas and tourist centers of this country, places where the consumption of alcohol and other risks increase.

With the purpose of guarantee public safety during celebrations, the National Police of Nicaragua, spread 14,000 officers, 12,000 professionals and 2,000 volunteers in the 153 municipalities.
