Imran threatens to target US drones if elected Pakistan PM

Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan has threatened that if he was elected as Prime Minister of Pakistan in May 11 general elections, he would target US drones violating Pakistan’s airspace.

Islamabad, May 4/Nationalturk – In what may not be a good news for Obama administration, Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, Saturday said if he was elected as Prime Minister of Pakistan in May 11 general elections, he would ask country’s Air force to target US drones violating Pakistan’s airspace.

“There is no room for outdated system in Pakistan. If our party Pakistani Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was elected to power, the nation will be released from the slavery of America,” Imran said while addressing people in Swabi area of restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to Pakistani newspaper, The Nation.

He said if elected to power, his party will make the country self-reliant and sovereign.

“We won’t allow anybody to violate our air space. We will uphold the sovereignty of the country at all costs. If elected as PM, I would ask country’s Air force to target US drones violating Pakistan’s airspace. I won’t allow US drones to violate Pakistan’s airspace,” Imran asserted.

Imran’s political party PTI has emerged as third political force in Pakistan after PPP and PML lead by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Political commentators are of the opinion that Imran’s PTI will give tough fight to PPP and PML-N in May 11 general elections.

There are opinions that party may emerge as a king-maker after the elections.
