Strictly Come Dancing 2012:Eastenders star Sid Owen was eliminated / BBC One Strictly Come Dancing News Video

The Eastenders star Owen believes his exit from the show came too early after admitting that he only had two hours of rehearsals with partner Ola Jordan.

Last week professional dancer Ola Jordan flew home to Poland after hearing her mum had suffered a major heart attack, leaving the dancing duo little time for practice of their routine.

Speaking of their week, The Sun reported Sid saying: “We really have had the week from hell.

“Ola has been through it with her mum and we only had a few hours together to practice.

“Literally, we had two hours and that was it. Ola wasn’t happy with the routine because she hadn’t put it together, so she wasn’t feeling it.”

The Eastender added: “She was nervous and that really rubbed off on me. I knew she wasn’t happy and wasn’t in the right frame of mind after what she’d been through.

“But you’ve just got to do what you’re given and try to make the most of your routine, which is what we did.”

Although the star was disappointed to be leaving the show, he held his head high and admitted: “There isn’t a lot I can do about it now.”

During Saturday night’s (October 27) Halloween Special, Sid and dance partner Old Jordan performed a cha-cha to the hit theme tune of Ghostbusters. However, the duo landed at the bottom of the leaderboard as they scored only 17 points.

Critical judge Craig Revel Horwood said the dance was a ‘Halloween nightmare’ whereas Len Goodman added: “You need to go for it more and take risks.”

Whilst Ola was at her mum’s side, Johnny Ball’s former dance partner Iveta Lukosiute choreographed and taught Sid’s cha-cha. However, the Polish beauty admitted her worries ahead of Saturday’s performance as she said: “Poor Sid. I haven’t been in training all week so I’m very worried about what our performance is going to be like.

“I just don’t want to go out this week because I’d feel really bad and guilty if that happened. It’s not Sid’s fault that I haven’t been there.”

Notably not the strongest dancer within the competition, Sid admits there are stronger contenders within the ballroom dance competition.

“It’s just unfortunate because I think I have the potential and it would have been nice to have had more time in the competition.

“But there were lots of strong performances on Saturday night and I’m not the best dancer, so it was a fair decision at the end of the day.

“I’ve come away from it with a little bit of dance experience. And the one thing I am happy about is that now Ola can go back and look after her mum.”

Now he’s off the show, the soap star has revealed he’s backing gymnast Louis Smith to win.

“Louis is brilliant as a performer. He really throws himself into it and really cares about it. I think Denise Van Outen is incredible too.”
