Hijacked Turkish cargo ship released by Pirates in Indian Ocean
The Turkish owned cargo ship which was hijacked by Somalian pirates has been released.
The Turkey flagged “MV YASIN-C” which was hijacked on 7th April has been released as the Somalian pirates left the 36,300-ton bulk carrier.
The cargo ship had been hijacked in the Indian Ocean just on top of East Kenya while transferring bulk wheat from Turkey’s black sea region to Kenya.
Officials from the Bergen Denizcilik Filo group which the Bulk carrier belongs to said on Saturday “the crew of the MV YASIN-C which was hijacked from the Indian Ocean has been released”
There are no reported injuries amongst the 25 crew members all of Turkish nationality.
“The captain of the ship has confirmed that the Pirates have abandoned the ship,” said Fatih Kabal an official from the Bergen Denizcilik Filo group.
He carried on to say “The crew have enough food and drink until they arrive at the Mombasa port which they are close to, they noticed a day later that the hijackers had left the ship, due to the attack by the pirates there are huge damages to the ship but I can confirm that no crew member is injured.”
