Genius goal by Beckham LA Galaxy vs Isidro Metapan match / Video

Beckham is still top team is capable of playing and great goals.

David Beckham inspired LA Galaxy to victory in the CONCACAF Champions League by setting up goals two and then scoring himself – direct from a corner.

The former England skipper lived up to the film title that carries his name, ‘Bend it like Beckham’, when he curled the ball in at the near post past Isidro Metapan goalkeeper Fidel Mondragon at at the end of the first half.

Unfortunately for Beckham and the Galaxy there were very few fans inside the Home Depot Centre to see the game, around 10,000 fans were there at the 27,000 capacity stadium.

Nicolas Munoz gave Metapan the lead in the 17th-minute following a defensive breakdown, but Beckham’s crosses led to Ricardo Alvarado’s own goal in the 20th minute and then Robbie Keane’s header that put the Galaxy in the lead after 22 minutes.

Beckham added the third in first-half stoppage time, direct from the corner, and then Juninho netted a brace in the final eight minutes, either side of Munoz’s second for Metapan, as Galaxy ran out 5-2 winners.

The sour note for Galaxy was a red card for former Spurs striker Keane who was sent off after 70 minutes.

Mexican referee Alfredo Penaloza cautioned the Irish striker after he was tripped above Metapan’s box, then pulled out the red card as Keane stormed away, signaling for a substitution.

Keane will be suspended for the Galaxy’s Champions League game Wednesday night against the Puerto Rico Islanders

Galaxy manager Bruce Arena said: ‘It’s a game we could have won by a larger margin, for sure,

‘We could have had a couple goals in the opening minutes of the game.’

Speaking about Keane’s red card, Arena added: ‘The referee missed the call. And, typical, we’ve seen in these competitions, the referees think they’re bigger than the game itself. And they’ve got to put themselves ahead of everything.

‘I don’t know, Robbie spoke, said something, whatever. But when a referee misses a call like that, he’s got to be big enough to kind of ignore it and let the game go on.
