Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan claims after music festival ban: ‘They’ want turkish youth to be alcoholics.

Istanbul, Turkey / NationalTurk – Turkish Prime Sinister Erdogan thinks an university campus is no place to go and ‘get drunk’. Tayyip Erdogan has said in a delayed response to social criticism over the abrupt cancellation of alcohol licenses at One Love Festival at Istanbul Bilgi University Campus earlier this July.

‘They want all our youth to be alcoholics,’ clamors Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, adding that he ‘was not aware until then’ that the bistros, restaurants and other eateries on the university’s campus in Eyüp, Istanbul already had proper licenses to sell alcohol.

‘ For Allah’s sake, how can this occur? Can anyone allow alcohol to be sold on a school campus? Will the student go there to get drunk on alcohol or find knowledge?’ Tayyip, leader of ruling AKP party ( Justice and Development Party) in Turkey asked.

‘ Students can go and drink in appropriate places outside of school,” tayyip blurted. ‘ It’s not like we are shutting down bars.’

The Turkih prime minister mentioned he personally called the university’s administration over the festival and alcohol sell at the festival.

‘ I said, ‘What on earth is this?’ And I told them we [ almond-shaped moustaches ] were upset over the festival,’ he said.

“I don’t know how all these columnists can defend [selling alcohol at One Love], when there is the Constitution right there [prohibiting such sales],” he said.

Organizers of the Efes Pilsen One Love Festival were informed just half an hour before the start of the July 14 event that they would not be permitted to serve alcohol at the festival, but the abrupt cancelation failed to dampen the enthusiasm of festival-goers and fans who continued to imbibe the banned drinks outside the gates, sold by Eyüp residents.

And what happened at One Love Festival that weekend ? Justice and Development Party (AKP) mentality have banned the alcohol sell at the festival. Some so-called social groups formed by some Eyüp residents which call themselves as protectors of holy Eyüp protested.

The result : People supposedly wouldn’t be allowed to drink beer at the festival. However they drank plenty of alcohol on Eyüp streets in front of festival area, the campus of Istanbul Bilgi University, and residents of Eyüp district, even 10 year olds, sold overpriced beer and all kinds of alcohol to festival people at street stands.

Fact : Bans divide the society to distinct sides and AKP should be cautious, they play a dangerous game !
