Melanie Masson has become the second person to be eliminated from The X Factor 2012 in tonight’s results show.
Last night saw the remaining twelve X Factor finalists perform live for the second time, singing songs with a Love and Heartbreak theme.
This evening, Dermot O’Leary revealed that District3 and Melanie Masson had received the fewest public votes and would have to sing again.
In the sing off, District3 performed Bryan Adams hit (Everything I Do) I Do It for You while Melanie performed Duffy’s Stay With Me Baby.
It was then over to the judges to decide which acts to save.
Both Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh stuck by their own acts, leaving Nicole and Tulisa to decide who would remain in the competition.
Tulisa said: “I’m going with my heart, and the my heart is with the lads, so I’m sending home Melanie.”
With the casting vote, Nicole said: “First of all, District3 did an amazing job up thee, you knocked it out the park. You killed it tonight, I’m so impressed.
“Melanie, I have to go off the save me song that I saw and I have to go with my heart and you are the oldest in this competition and I felt it so I am sending home District3.”
With the judges’ votes tied, it was over to deadlock for the second week in the row.
With the fewest votes, Melanie lost out in the public vote and was eliminated.

Strictly Come Dancing smashed The X Factor 2012 in the ratings last night, with almost ten million viewers.
The second live show of both series saw very different numbers.
Strictly soared week on week, up nearly a million viewers to 9.91 million for its two hour show between 6:30PM and 8:30PM.
The X Factor however declined week on week – despite plenty of press – with 8.68 million viewers.
Even including those watching on ITV1+1 an hour later, the numbers were still down nearly a million on Strictly Come Dancing, and down over two million on last year’s equivalent show.
Strictly peaked with over 11 million viewers, while The X Factor peaked with just under 10 million.
This evening’s show will see the second elimination of the series, as well as performances from US country star Taylor Swift and former X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson.
Meanwhile Strictly Come Dancing will air its pre-recorded results show this evening just before the X Factor, featuring a performance from the Scissor Sisters.
