Plane Crash in Libya Kills at least 104, Dutch boy survives

Reports are coming in of a plane crash at Tripoli airport, Libya, on Wednesday killing 104 people.

Plane crashIt has been reported that only an eight-year-old child of Dutch nationality has survived the crash but there has been no word of his condition.

A plane has been reported to have crashed at the Tripoli airport on Wednesday after flying from South Africa in the early morning hours.

The plane was travelling from Johannesburg and was due to fly to Gatwick Airport , London after stopping in Libya, when the tragedy struck

There has so far been no report of the reason behind the crash but it has been reported that the crash occurred at 04:00 am local time while the plane was landing.

According to an un-named official who spoke to AFP “All 94 passengers and 11 crew members who were on board were killed,”

The plane belonging to Afriqiyah Airways was an Airbus 330 model and it is thought that people of various nationalities were on board including British and South African.

The company which is owned by the Libyan state had resumed flights in April 21 after the ash cloud from the Iceland volcano had grounded planes owned by the company.
