Opposing Israel’s blockade, calling Israel a ”terrorist country’, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey will send aid shipments to Gaza protected by Turkish naval forces.

Tensions in Turkey Israel relations reached another extreme point, as Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated, Turkey’s naval forces would escort Turkey’s humanitarian aid shipments bound for the under blockade Gaza Strip, adding to the war of words following the UN report legitimated Israel’s blockade on Gaza and Israel’s repudiating to apologize for the raid on a Gaza aid flotilla heading to the Palestinian Territories in May last year when Israeli commandos raided one of the vessels of the Gaza-bound aid flotilla, killing nine Turks and igniting a diplomatic row between Israel and Turkey.

“Gaza needs humanitarian aid and Turkey has aid to be sent there. And i assure every country of the world our humanitarian aid will not be attacked by Israel anymore like it happened to Mavi Marmara last year,” Prime Minister Erdogan told on Thursday.

Israeli commandos boarded the vessel Mavi Marmara, which aimed to break Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza, and killed nine Turkish citizens, who claim to be activists, in international waters, causing a row in diplomatic relations between Turkey and Israel. Pm Erdogan also added that Turkey would closely monitor movements international waters and has taken cautionary steps to prevent Israel’s unilateral exploitation of natural resources in the eastern Mediterranean.

Turkish Israeli relations suffer its low status last week after a UN report on the deadly Israeli raid on a Gaza-bound aid ship legitimated that Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza was legitimate but its raid on the flotilla trying to break the blockade was “excessive and unreasonable.”

Turkey has since expelled top Israeli diplomats, including Isreal’s ambassador in Ankara, cut military ties and cancelled all trade agreements with Israel, pledged to lobby other nations in support of the Palestinians’ statehood against Israel bid at the United Nations in September and promised increased Turkish naval patrols in the Mediterranean.

Although Israel has expressed deep regret for the loss of lives aboard the flotillaand at Mavi Marmara, but it has refused to apologise, saying its military forces acted in self-defense. Israel then accused Turkey, hosting and supporting Hamas in Turkey. Turkey, however, is still seeking an apology in order to normalise a relationship once seen as a cornerstone of regional stability with his ‘former’ ally in a Middle East, where disorder is common, with the presence of countries like Israel, Syria, Jordan, Iran, Iraq and Lebanon.
