Turkish president meets Iranian counterpart in Tehran

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani welcomed his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in an official ceremony at Sadabad Palace in Tehran on Tuesday.

The two leaders will hold joint press conference after chairing the second meeting of the Turkey – Iran High Level Cooperation Council.

The first meeting of the Council was held on June 9, 2014, in the Turkish capital Ankara, and was co-chaired by Erdogan — then Prime Minister — and Rouhani.

Erdogan is accompanied by Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci, Energy Minister Taner Yildiz, Minister of Customs and Trade Nurettin Canikli, Development Minister Cevdet Yilmaz, Minister of Culture and Tourism Omer Celik and Intelligence Chief Hakan Fidan.

Erdogan will also meet Iran’s religious leader Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei (Anadolu Agency).
