The investigators speak of a revenge because he got no major roles. The former star dancer Pawel Dmitritschenko has been sentenced by a court in Moscow for acid attack on the ballet director of the Bolshoi Theatre. He faces nine years in prison.

Eleven months after the acid attack on the ballet director of the Moscow Bolshoi Theatre a Russian court has the solo dancer Pawel Dmitritschenko guilty. The court considered it proven that the 29-year-old has instigated in January two acquaintances to the assassination of the ballet director Sergei Filin.

The sentence in the judgment for aggravated assault initially was not fixed. The dancer had disturbed the artistic leadership of his boss. The crime had caused great terror because of its brutality in the international cultural scene.

Filin had suffered severe burns on his face in January at the attack in front of his house and had to be operated on more than 20 times. He was nearly blind. In September he returned to Moscow to resume his work.

The prosecution had demanded nine years in prison for Dmitritschenko. For the alleged perpetrators they had demanded a sentence of ten years, for an alleged helper of six years. The trio had planned and knew that ballet director Filin would be seriously injured, the fact long said the chief prosecutor.

In the opinion of the investigators themselves Dmitritschenko had wanted to avenge that Filin him and his girlfriend Angelina Vorontsova large rolls refused. The dancer had apologized in court and added a moral responsibility. He claimed to be not been involved in the actual planning of the brutal attack.
