Shock for PSG: Mbappe wants to leave the club

Will Paris Saint-Germain lose the next star? Kylian Mbappé doesn't seem to want to extend his contract.

Soccer superstar Kylian Mbappé is apparently pushing the French soccer champions Paris St. Germain for his early departure in the upcoming summer transfer window. The French newspaper “L’Equipe” reported on this on Monday evening. The ex-world champion informed the club that he would not extend his contract, which runs until 2024.

This would put PSG under pressure to either sell the 24-year-old for a hefty fee later this year or let the striker go next year without having to pay a transfer fee.

Mbappé only extended his contract in Paris last year. Until his surprising signature, his move to the Spanish record champions Real Madrid was considered safe. The Qatari PSG owners are said to have brought about the change of heart primarily by promising Mbappé a three-digit million salary.

Mbappé could unilaterally extend his lucrative contract until July 31. “I still have a year’s contract, I’ll be there next season too,” the striker said recently.

PSG is in transition

Should Mbappé say goodbye, he would be the next star the capital club loses. The move from world champion Lionel Messi to the USA to Inter Miami was recently announced. Ex-Spanish world champion Sergio Ramos is also leaving the club.

PSG is in a state of upheaval anyway. According to media reports, the separation from coach Christophe Galtier is a done deal, instead the club should be interested in ex-Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann. The German national player Ilkay Gündogan, whose contract with Champions League winners Manchester City expires, is said to be very popular.
