The Green crocodiles have made history by becoming only the fifth team ever to be crowned the champions of the Turkcell Super League (The countries top football division) since it started in 1957.

It is also the second time ever the Turkish Super League has been won by a team outside of Istanbul with Trabzonspor, the six time champions last winning the cup 29-years-ago.

The wrest of the championships were won by Besiktas (13 times), Fenerbahce(17 times) and Galatasaray(17 times) who are all Istanbul sides with fierce relations.

Bursaspor who started the night in second position, with just a single point behind first position Fenerbahce played Besiktas who were in fourth position.

Bursapor went 2 goals ahead of the Black Eagles after a prominent display of football with Besiktas not really playing for anything other then a chance to finish third in the league ahead of Galatasaray if the Lions were to drop any points against Genclerbirligi.

Pablo Batalla put Bursaspor ahead on the 32nd minute with Besiktas defender Ibrahim Toraman adding to the deficit after scoring an own goal.

Fenerbahce stadiumUgur Inceman who came on as a substitute pulled one back for Besiktas but it was not enough and Bursaspor got the all important three points and waited for the outcome of the Fenerbahce Vs Trabzonspor match.

Yesterday’s game in Istanbul, between Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor, a rematch of the Turkey Cup which Trabzonspor won just a week earlier, was as exciting and dramatic as any final could be and more.

In a game which Fenerbahce only needed a win against the Turkey Cup winners it could be said that the Istanbul side sealed their own fate.

Fenerbahce went a goal up by a Daniel Guiza strike on the 14th minute of the game but with just nine minutes after the goal Trabzonspor equalized by a cross slash shot by Trabzonspor forward and winger, Burak Yilmaz.

Things had gotten desperate when news arrived of Bursaspor’s lead against Besiktas with attack after attack of the Yellow and Navy outfit some how being kept out of the goal.

Bursaspor were champions of Turkey and they had written history, the long awaited championship of an Anatolian team which was nearly completed last season with Sivasspor was finally completed in the 2009-10 season.
