Obama Proposal rejected by Netanyahu in US CongressIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu officially refused US President Barack Obama´s proposal supporting the creation of a Palestinian state based on the borders settled in 1967, in the US Congress.

While Barack Obama visits United Kingdom amid protests Netanyahu stated in a speech before the US legislators in the US Congress “I am willing to take painful commitments to reach peace with the Palestinians, but returning to the borders of 1967 is unacceptable. The borders of 1967 are indefensible”

“We should find a solution to establish a pact of permanent peace with the Palestinians”, Netenyahu in the speech continued, without specifying how.

Netenyahu ‘ Obama administration supports the well being of Israel

The Israeli Prime Minister Netenyahu thanked President Obama for his determined support to the security of Israel and congratulated the US government for the killing of Osama Bin Laden on May 2 in a Pakistan raid.

Netanyahu met US President Obama last May 20 in the White House. The US President distinguished differences on a solid foundation of the future Palestinian state neighbouring Israel.

The US leader made clear last Sunday the doubts that had arisen on the politics of his administration with Israel, and stated that support for the well-being and the security of Israel was unbreakable.

Palestinian Israeli Conflict Netenyahu seeks support from AIPAC

Netanyahu gave a speech on May 22 before the Israeli American Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), where he underlined the untenability of the current state of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and considered it necessary to reopen the process of peace.

Benjamin Netanyahu reasserted the interest and the commitment of Washington in maintaining the superiority of the Israeli military force in the region.

After having tense conversations with Netanyahu some days ago, Obama softened the tone of his opinions and made sure that the US government goes beyond offering military support to Israel government.

AIPAC is without doubt the most influential pro-Israeli group in the US, with more than 100,000 members, 150 of them dedicated to lobby the Congress, the White House and all the administrative organizations in the taking of political decisions that can affect the interests of Israel.
