Over 100 dead in Russian Nighclub Fire

Russia Nightclub BlastOver 100 people mainly between the ages of 18 and 30 have died in a russian night club after a fireworks show at the clubs 8th anniversary went horrifically wrong.

The organisers at the club put on an indoor fireworks show which went drastically wrong. as many of the young adults saw the blaze they all ran to the exits which caused many to be crushed to death.

Most of the punters died of smoke inhalation but some also died of burns and being crushed to death during the panic. There have also been hundreds of injured from the night club some critical.

The tragedy happened a week after a passenger train travelling between Moscow and St Petersburg was derailed by a bomb in an incident that left 26 people dead, stoking fears of a nationwide terror campaign.

But investigators said on Saturday they were “100 per cent sure” that the nightclub fire in Perm was an accident caused by incompetence rather than an act of terror.

Vladimir Markin, a spokesman for Russia’s top investigative body said “The accident was due to a violation of instructions when launching fireworks, there is no chance it was a terrorist act.”

He said a criminal investigation had been launched.

“It all happened because of pyrotechnics,” Andrei, a witness, told the Ekho Moskvy radio station. “There was a fireworks display of “rain” in the form of sparks that leapt one and a half meters into the air. A spark obviously hit the ceiling, which is completely made of woven brushwood. It ignited. The electricity went off instantly, the place began to fill up with smoke, and the lights went out and people started to rush for the exit.”

Russian broadcasting channels showed badly burnt bodies in the street out side of the club which was turned into debri in which hours earlier over 300 young party goers were dancing and having fun.
